29 years later Gordon sold the agency to Steve Callis, who was working at the time as a commercial marketing rep with The Hartford and regularly calling on the agency. In 1977 the agency changed its name to Sandison & Callis Insurance. Gordon continued his political career with an appointment by President Jimmy Carter as the director of the Washington Department of Fisheries. In 1987 Steve Callis officially incorporated the agency and changed the name to Callis Insurance. That next year the agency moved into our current location on the corner of 8th and Vine St in Port Angeles, WA.
In 2010 the agency was acquired by Andy Callis, the active president of the agency and son of Steve Callis, turning the agency into a second generation family-owned company. In 2014 he acquired CJ Insurance Associates in Bremerton to expand the current footprint in Kitsap County. The combined agency now operates two offices and has added numerous carrier relationships to better suite our clients. Andy and his team have taken the agency to the next level by leveraging technology and adopting a company culture focused on customer service and community. Andy sums it up best by saying “With over 100 years’ experience, our agency is a knowledge base from which we strive to put service and community as our priority. We offer more choices giving our clients a better opportunity to focus on the things that matter.”
